The postpartum salt pot massage is a traditional Thai postpartum care. It is an application of ancient Thai wisdom to care for the health of women after giving birth, in the case of natural birth 7 days after giving birth and in the case of cesarean section 45 days after giving birth.
It is the use of granulated salt in a clay pot, heated over a fire until hot, then placed on herbs and lotus leaves, and wrapped in cloth. Then the pot of salt is pressed against the abdomen, thighs, and lower back. This will help the uterus contract, help expel lochia, stimulate blood circulation, and make the abdominal muscles firm and shrink the abdomen. There is research that has shown that pressing on a pot of salt helps relax the muscles and reduce muscle pain.
